The convent was founded by the Friars Minor Conventuals in mid 15th century. Documentary evidence can be found on a list of convent foundations of 1464. The convent was for the first time destroyed in 1809, forcing the conventuals to abandon it. In 1843 it was entrusted to the Augustinian fathers, like an out building  of the Sogliano Cavour convent. The fathers remained here until 1866  when it was once again destroyed by religious orders and their possessions confiscated. From a series of architectural drafts, it is possible to verify the existence of at least three; one from the 15th century, another from the 17th century, and lastly the third from the late 18th century. The existing factory, built between 1789 and 1801, is characterized by a façade divided in two orders. The lower order is clearly marked by six Corinthian pilasters that act as door frame to the entrance and coat of arms of the Friars Minor. The upper order joined to the first one by two scrolls with the statues of Saint Paul and Saint Bonaventura hosts a big centre window and ends with an elaborate pediment overlooked by a statue of the Virgin Mary.
