After years of abandonment, reduced to ruins, in the early 21st century I underwent extensive and radical restoration work. The exact date and reasons of my construction are not known, however I already existed in the second half of the 15th century, entitled to Saint Solomon, a religious figure mysterious and unknown to present date.
His cult was well rooted in Botrugno, as testified by the use of the name Solomon commonly given to newborns of the community.
The commissioning of my construction may not have been clerical, seeing that from the end of the 15th century I was property of the Maramonte, an ancient and powerful noble family, feudatories of Botrugno from the 13th to the 17th century.
I am mentioned in the pastoral visit of 1522 and in that of 1608, where there is indication of two alters on my inside, the main one dedicated to S. Virginis Mariae and the other to Sancti Solomi. From the pastoral visit of 1608, it emerges that Saint Solomon was celebrated three times a year: on 20th May, on 21st June and on 18th November.
His cult could be connected to the events of the Maramonte, in particular to Sveva Maramonte who, in various pictorial evidence is represented like a devotee of the Saint.
